What is a Family Intervention?

An intervention or family meeting is a planned event where family members get together to discuss a concern or issue causing conflict or estrangement in a calm, positive environment. The meeting is a structured, solution focused process consisting of a group of family members who come together in a caring and non-judgmental manner. Each family member is able to take turns expressing their concerns and how they see the estrangement or conflict affecting them. Each family member is given the opportunity to present their observations and help others understand how the estrangement or conflict is affecting both them and the people around them. The goal of an intervention is to come to a positive solution for all parties and to open new lines of communication for all family members. As family professionals our goal is to bring your estranged family members together in a non-confrontational meeting to start a fresh, healthy relationship and new beginnings.
